Was Family:Whitney, John J. (c1828-b1880) the son of Family:Whitney, Patrick (c1794-a1850), who we already have a page for? I suspect he may have been as the location looks right and the name Patrick was carried forward in your family. If so, this Patrick Whitney was an immigrant from Ireland.
Have you considered having a male Whitney in your family join our Whitney DNA project? We would love to have a descendant of Patrick tested to see if the Ireland Whitneys were related to any of the other Whitney families we have identified through DNA analysis.
