Hello Malcolm, and welcome to the Whitney Research Group website. Thank you for listing your Whitney line - I've added it to your lineage box, and added links to the family pages we have for your relatives. Please have a look, and feel free to add or update any information as needed.
Most of the WRG members on this site descend from one of three Whitney immigrants to America - John Whitney, Henry Whitney, and Samuel Whitney. Using DNA, we now know that these men were NOT related to one another, but we also know what their DNA signatures were. If we could find Whitneys in England or Wales who would also get a simple DNA test, we might be able to find a match, and have a much better chance of discovering where these immigrants originated. If you are interested in helping us with this, or at least learning more about the process, I would be happy to discuss further.
