Can you give us some idea of timeframe? About when were your grandfather and great grandfather born? Do you know their wives names? Other children? I did a quick search through census records, but was unable to make a connection as I just don't have enough information to go on yet.

Norman Whitney

Thank you for adding in the additional information. I did a search and I believe that you found Norman Whitney's information on the Social Security Death Index. If this is indeed where you obtained the information, it's important to note that the "Billerica, MA" location from that record is not his birth place, but the place that the last payment was made. His Social Security number does indicate that it was given to him when he was residing in MA. Even with this new information, I am unable to pick his trail up on the census records. I find several Norman Whitneys, but none that fits exactly. Do you know the name of his wife? Did he have a middle name? Do you know if he had any brothers or sisters? Have you found an obituary for him?
