Welcome!

Welcome to the Whitney Research Group website Shawn! Thank you for adding in your name and your parents' names. In order for us to be able to help you find your Whitney line, we'll need more information - hopefully a generation or two further back, as well as some dates and locations. If you can get that information entered, we may be able to look that up for you.

Thanks, and again, welcome!

Your Lineage

Shawn,

I have found the birth of your grandfather, Henry Arthur Whitney, on 30 Mar 1889, Grafton, MA, son of Edward E. Whitney and Ida A. Prentice, Edward being also born in Grafton. [Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841 - 1910, vol. 396, p. 363.]

His parents were married in Grafton on 8 Oct 1886, both being of Grafton. He was 33 a farmer, she 17, a domestic. Both were born in Grafton. His parents were Daniel and Sarah S. (Fiske) Whitney, and hers were Henry and Harriet E. (Stewart) Prentice. It was a first marriage for both, and it was performed by E. H. Tunnicliffe, Clergyman, North Grafton. [Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841 - 1910, vol. 372, p. 311.]

That was enough to connect him to the family of descendants of John-1 Whitney of Watertown, MA. I have modified your lineage page to reflect the new information.

Then I found the following page, which confirms what I found above:
