Jeanne "retired" from the group in early 2003, posting just a few times since. On 2 Jan 2004, Jeanne posted the following:

"Hello again from Jeanne Muse ... hopefully still remembered by most of you :) I'm back only temporarily so I can say hello, Happy New Year, and to tell you what's been up. (See below for the status of the Whitney databases)"
"I took a sabatical away from genealogy for a year and haven't been researching at all. Why, you ask? Well ... I did spent 12 years working very hard at it ... and I needed a rest. Besides, I'm still very gainfully employed -and- my husband and I do so much work-related travel that so-called "free" time is spent doing things together. (He's not interested in studying "dead people", as he puts it!)"
"Although I am still interested in my family tree, my Whitneys are basically done. So any future work will probably concern my mother's Goldsmith surname - on which I have been stuck in the mid 1700s for a long time."

Jeanne maintained three of the WRG's GEDCOM databases (one of the John Whitney databases, the Henry Whitney database, and the Unconnected Whitneys database), all of which she has provided the most recent versions to the group.
