Addis Whitney, parentage unknown, was born circa 1862, NY or KS, and died probably before 1889.
He probably married, 20 Aug 1884 or 8 Feb 1885, perhaps Delaware Township, Lincoln Co., SD, Elsie B. Myers of Lincoln Co., SD. She married (2), by 1889, Isaac F. Smith.
In 1886 he graduated from Amherst.
Probable children of Addis and Elsie B. (Myers) Whitney:
i. (probably) Joe Whitney, b. 19 May 1885, SD. He was the step-son of Isaac F. Smith and son of Elsie B. (Myers) (Whitney) Smith.
Notes
Was he perhaps Addis Merrill Whitney, b. 1862, Gouverneur, St. Lawrence Co., NY, d. 1935, Swampscott, MA? This man traveled as a Waterworks and Gasworks Engineer in the "West". Lived in Duluth, MN 1889, Denver, CO, 1890, and Cheyenne, WY, 1894. Involved in real estate speculation.
