'''Richard Whitney, Gent.''', parentage unknown, but perhaps identical with Richard, son of [[Family:Whitney, Robert (s1491-1541)|Robert and Margaret (Wye) Whitney]]. If so, then he was apparently under 24 years of age when his father wrote his will in 1541, and probably much younger, as his father mentioned several children as being under 24, and Richard was near the end of the list. He was thus probably born circa 1535.

If sons Richard and Anthony served as his executors in 1563, they must have both been at least 21 years of age, making them born by at least 1542. This would make their father born by at least 1518 and perhaps earlier, too old to have been the son of Robert Whitney of Icomb.
