John⁷ Whitney (Israel⁶, Joshua⁵, Daniel⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Israel⁶ and Lucy (Mahan) Whitney, was born 9 Apr 1820, Worcester, MA,^[1] and died 21 Mar 1854, Worcester, MA.

He married, 20 Nov 1847, Worcester, MA, Marietta Parks,^[2] daughter of Isaac and Catherine (Clark) Parks. She was born 18 Nov 1826, Boston, MA. She married secondly, 17 Apr 1862, Worcester, MA, Charles W. Smith, son of Bradley and Sarah (-----) Smith. He was born about 10 Jan 1814, Paxton, MA, and died 31 Aug 1872, Worcester, MA, aged 58 years 7 months 21 days.

John Whitney was born in Worcester, where he always resided. He was a well-to-do farmer. He died intestate and the widow was appointed guardian to the children. The only data on the Worcester probate records is 3 Mar 1860, when the widow made a report of guardian's sale of real estate for the two minor children. He resided Worcester, MA.
