He married firstly, 25 Sep 1783, Harvard, MA, Lois Hill,[2] daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Knight) Hill. She "Louis" was born 9 Mar 1763, Harvard, MA, and died 10 Jan 1794. An old Bible in possession of a daughter of Amos S. Whitney, at Minneapolis refers to her as Miss Lidia Whitney
