Richard Whitney, Gent., parentage unknown, born probably before 1518,[1] and died 1563.[2]
He married Elinor -----.
On 24 Apr 2 & 3 Philip and Mary (1556), William Doughtie supposedly granted a parcel of land to Richard Whitney, his wife Elinor Whitney, and their son Thomas Whitney. Richard and Thomas later died, and Elinor conveyed the land to her sons Richard and Anthony Whitney. In 10 Elizabeth (1567), William Doughtie brought suit against Richard and Anthony Whitney to recover the land.[3]
"[1587], acquired from Richard Whitney and Anthony Whitney, the advowson of the rectory of Marckley alias Martley church, Worcs. ..."[4]
Children of Richard and Elinor (-----) Whitney:
i. Thomas Whitney, d. bef. 1567. ii. Richard Whitney, b. bef. 1542, d. aft. 1567. iii. Anthony Whitney, b. bef. 1542, d. aft. 1567. He may be the same as ----- Whitney (?-b1622)

1. ^ If sons Richard and Anthony served as his executors in 1563, they must have both been at least 21 years of age, making them born by at least 1542. This would make their father born by at least 1518 and perhaps earlier.
