Family:Whitney, Amos Stone (1807-a1880)

Amos Stone⁷ Whitney (Jonah⁶, Isaiah⁵, Isaiah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), born in Henniker, New Hampshire, 27 Apr 1807; married in Daysville, Illinois, 8 Feb 1847, Mrs. Emmeline Jakway Holden, born 14 Sep 1817; died Dixon, Illinois, 8 Aug 1884.

He was born in Henniker, New Hampshire, in 1807, where he remained until a young man, when he spent some time in traveling in Canada. In 1839 he migrated west, settling in Daysville, Ogle County, Illinois. He was engaged at his trade, that of coopering, at which he always worked. After his marriage he moved to Dixon, Lee County, Illinois, and followed his trade. In 1877 he was taken ill, and since then has been incapacitated for work. Of late years he has made his home in Minneapolis with his daughter, Mrs. Henry. He acquired a handsome property, and was always an industrious, honorable citizen; resided Daysville and Dixon, Illinois.

ii.	Henry M. Whitney, 24 Aug 1850; died 8 Jan 1851.
iii.	Mary Jane Whitney, born 30 Dec 1851; resided Dixon, Illinois.
iv.	Emma Amanda Whitney, born 10 May 1853; married 14 Mar 1889, John H. Henry, s.p.; resided 306 Williams St., St. Paul, Minnesota.
v.	Benjamin McN. Whitney, born 24 Mar 1855; married Clara Sthare and Grerena Waldon.
