Jonas⁵ Whitney (Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Jonas⁴ and Dorcas (Wood) Whitney was born 2 Jul 1727 at Stow, MA^[1] and died 23 Dec 1781 at Harvard, MA, at age 54^[2], in 65th year; d. 23 Dec 1791 at Harvard, MA, at age 64.

Jonas married Zebudah Davis, daughter of John and Rebecka (Burt) Davis Jr., 13 Sep 1750 at Harvard, MA.

He was also known as Jonas Whitney Jr. He Listed under Whetney rather than Whitney. He Revolutionary soldier.

Zebudah Davis was born circa 1727; calculated from age at death. She was born on 11 Apr 1728 at Harvard, MA. She died on 21 Nov 1812 at Harvard, MA, at age 84; aged 85 years, widow, of old age. She This place of birth is reported as Harvard in an article in NEHGS Nexus, Vol. XIII, No.'s 3 & 4 (May - August 1996), p. 115.

ii.	Miriam Whitney, b. 8 Aug 1752 at Harvard, MA; d. 30 Aug 1775 at Harvard, MA, at age 23; aged 22 years 8 months 11 days.
iii.	Ephraim Whitney, b. 2 Apr 1754 at Harvard, MA; m. Sarah (--?--) before 1792; d. 25 Mar 1824 at Royalston, MA, at age 69; aged 70 years.
iv.	Jonas Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1756 at Harvard, MA; Marriage banns for he and Relief Whitney were published 2 Jul 1780 at Harvard, MA; d. 26 Nov 1803 at Harvard, MA, at age 47; aged 47 years. He was also known as Jonas Whitney Jr.. He Apropos source, this birth does NOT appear in the extracted Whitney entries from the Harvard, MA, Vital Records, but the later marriage to Relief Whitney does appear there. I have not yet found another Whitney family anywhere nearby who had a child named Jonas born anywhere around the time appropriate to participate in this marriage in 1780.
v.	Lydia Whitney, b. 17 Oct 1757 at Harvard, MA; d. 1 May 1759 at Harvard, MA, at age 1; aged 18 months 13 days.
vi.	Salmon Whitney, b. 16 Feb 1760 at Harvard, MA; m. Hepzibah Raymond, daughter of Jonathan Raymond and Susannah White, 22 Apr 1784 at Templeton, MA; d. 11 Aug 1844 at Harvard, MA, at age 84; aged 84 years, married, of consumption. He was also known as Salmon Whitney Lt.. He "When the Revolutionary War broke out, he enlisted at once... [first enlistment 10 July 1776] for 8 months service at Dorchester Heights; Capt. Sawyer's Co., from Lancaster. In 1777 he was in Capt. Joseph Sargent's Co., from Princeton, in Col. Stearn's regt., for service in RI. In 1780 he was a lieutenant in the Co. of Capt. Wm. Scott. He was then 20 years of age, and 5' 7" in height". [F. C. Pierce, The Descendants of John Whitney; 1895]**Died at age 84, of consumption. He was described as aged 20 years, 5 feet 7 inches tall in 1780.

viii.	Israel Whitney, b. 16 Jan 1767 at Harvard, MA; m. Susanna Gary 30 Mar 1788 at Harvard, MA; d. 12 Feb 1842 at North Hero, VT, at age 75. He was also known as Israel Whitney Jr. in marriage record. He and Susanna Gary had nine children.

x.	Lucy Whitney, b. say 1757; guess by RLW. She Shown in Pierce on p. 81, without dates, and not in the Harvard VR's.
xi.	Peter Whitney, b. 17 Aug 1772 at Harvard, MA; Marriage banns for he and Joanna Newhall were published 15 Sep 1797 at Southborough, MA; wife "of Leominster;" m. Joanna Newhall 3 Oct 1797 at Leominster, MA; husband "of Southborough;" d. 10 Oct 1826 at Gray, ME, at age 54; aged 54 years (g.s.). He was also known as Dr. Peter Whitney. He According to Pierce, Peter "went to Maine", p. 81.
