James Whitney, former boatman on the old C. and O. Canal, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. A. Reed, 808 W. Franklin St., from heart trouble, aged 74 years. Besides his daughter, Mrs Reed, he is survivvied (Note: spelling as it appeared in the paper) by the following stepchildren: Mrs. E. O. Diffendaffer, this city; Mrs. Mary Scanland, Baltimore; Charles W. Durborow, this city, and William Durborrow, Sharpsburg. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. G.B. Townsend. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
