Family:Whitney, John (c1814-a1850)

John Whitney, ([probably] Wade H., Joseph), probably son of Wade H. and Susan (Norton) Whitney but known to be a grandson of Joseph Whitney, was born circa 1814, TN.

He married, say 1830, Elinder -----. She was born circa 1810, TN.

"P:252 5 October 1837, Joseph Whitney Senr., for love and affection for grandson John Whitney and grand daughter Elender, his wife, and the sum of $1, granted a negro boy named Charles about 16 years, posession to be taken at Joseph's death and a negro girl Sarah Ann to be taken at Joseph's death and the death of his wife."^[1]

viii.	Zachariah T. Whitney, b. ca. 1849, AR.

Notes

Was he perhaps a son of Family:Whitney, William O. (b1775-1822) and brother of William Whitney, his next door neighbor in the 1850, Washington, Independence County, Arkansas census? Note that he had a son Wade Whitney, and the early settlers of Bedford Co., TN included the Wade family.

Is Wade Whitney, born 1844 the same person who married Nannie (?), and listed in the 1900 Red River County, Texas census as Hamp Whitney, born 1846?
