Jared7 Whitney, ([prob.] John6, Joshua5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), probably the son of John7 and Rachel (Hiscock) Whitney, was born 5 Oct 1790, Norwich, MA, and died 2 Apr 1847, Adams Township, Allen County, IN, aged 57 years.

He married, before 1817, Catharine Jane Daniels. She was born 28 Jan 1794, NY, and died after 1860.

He was apparently one of the first settlers of Jefferson Township, Allen Co., IN:

"1833 - Jared Whitney, possibly the first white man, who settled on the Maumee River."[1]
"JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP. It is believed that the first permanent settlement within the limits of this township was made by Jared Whitney and his family. He came in May, 1833, and remained during the summer on the Maumee river, but in the fall took possession of a tract on section 7, which he afterward brought into cultivation."[2]

Children of Jared7 Whitney (possibly incomplete):

i. (probably) Alanson8 Whitney, b. 13 Jan 1817, NY, d. 26 Aug 1882, Allen Co., IN, m. Almira Cool.
ii. Evaline Whitney, b. 4 Oct 1818, NY; m. 1837, Jefferson Twp., Allen Co., IN, Reuben Powers; resided Richwood, WI, in 1860.
iii. Ward Whitney, b. 7 Jul 1820; no further record found.
iv. Julius Whitney, b. 12 Feb 1822; no further record found.
v. Harriet Calfernia Whitney, b. 13 May 1823, NY; d. 30 Sep 1850, Jefferson Twp., Allen Co., IN; m. before 1843, Morgan Bentley.
vi. Oscar F. Whitney, b. 5 Sep 1825, NY; m. Catherine Hollopeter.
vii. James F. Whitney, b. 9 May 1827, NY; d. 14 Jul 1856, in 28th year, New Haven, Allen Co., IN.
viii. Larancy Jane Whitney, b. 2 Nov 1829, NY; d. after 1850.
ix. Angenette Augusta Whitney, b. 9 Jun 1832, NY; d. after 1860.
x. Sammy Whitney, b. 2 Sep 1834; no further records found.
xi. Juliette Whitney, b. 31 Jul 1836; no further records found.

Notes

I suspect he is the son of the John and Rachel (Hiscock) Whitney as he is found in Indiana near an Alanson Whitney of the right age to have been his son, and this Jared had a brother named Alanson. Furthermore his age at death puts his birth at the same year as John and Rachel's son Jared. The record of his birth from the Public Member Tree at Ancestry.com gives the exact same date as that of John and Rachel's son Jared, and the place as Norwich, MA.

There are many references to this family in The pictorial history of Fort Wayne, Indiana: a review of two ..., Volume 1, by Bert Joseph Griswold, Samuel R. Taylor.
