Silas6 Whitney (Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), born Petersham, 29 Apr 1762; married at Stockbridge, Massachusetts, 4 Oct 1789, Mamre Bradley, born 1765, died Apr. 20, 1835.

Silas Whitney was a farmer and followed agricultural pursuits all his life. He was honest and much respected and beloved by his fellow citizens in Stockbridge. He died 11 Apr 1807; resided Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

i. Abigail Tarbox Pepoon7 Whitney, born -----; died unmarried
ii. Harriett Whitney, born 9 Feb 1793; married at Stock, Elisha Curtis. he was born 15 Jul 1789; died 28 Aug 1840; was a merchant.
Ch.: William Brown; resided New Rochelle, New York; Silas Whitney, died -----; Catherine, died 12 Dec 1828, ae. 9; Mary Mamre, died 22 Apr 1885, ae. 61; George Elnathan, died -----; Robert Galpin, died -----; Henry Elisha.
iii. George Whitney, born 6 Jan 1795; married Parmela F. Fenn.
iv. William Whitney, born -----; married Anna Jones.
v. Cornelia Whitney, born -----; married Luke Ashburner. He was born in England. They had one son, William, who married Emeline Field, dau. of Stephen, one of the Field families in Stockbridge. He died in California in 1891, s.p. The widow resided at 1014 Pine St., San Francisco, California. William was appointed by the President of the U.S. in 1864 as a State Commissioner to manage lands.
vi. Mary Whitney, born -----; died unmarried
vii. Charlotte Whitney, born -----; married Hon. James Fowler, of Westfield, Massachusetts; his second wife. She died s. p.
