Family:Whitney, Hezekiah (1748-1827)

Hezekiah⁵ Whitney (Enoch⁴, Ebenezer³, Richard², John¹), son of Enoch⁴ and Thankful (Parke) Whitney, was born 26 Dec 1748, Preston, CT,^[1] was baptized 28 May 1744, Preston, CT, or 28 May 1749, Griswold, CT,^[2] and died 20 Dec 1827, Washington, CT.

Hezekiah married, between Sep 1774 and Dec 1774, Plainfield, CT, Olive Knight, daughter of John and Eleanor (Wood) Knight, by Rev. Alexander Miller. She was born 17 Mar 1756, Norwich, CT, and died 7 Dec 1849, Washington, CT, aged 100 years [sic].^[3]

Notes of Edward Raymond Sandiford/1941-1956: *'Note: That the Hezekiah Whitney of Washington, CT. was the Hezekiah born to Enoch Whitney is covered by an affidavit among the pension papers of Hezekiah Whitney at Washington, D.C.' *'Note: Hezekiah's Pension papers at Washington, D.C. give the information marked (a) above and below and the information that after his marriage he removed from Plainfield to that part of the Society of New Preston that in 1779 became part of Washington, CT.; that he served two consecutive enlistments in the Revolution, a total of 6 years; that he was at the surrender of Burgoyne at Saratoga and at West Point when Major Andre was captured. In their later years both he and his wife were badly crippled with rheumatism. In 1818 he applied for and got a pension. In 1837 his widow applied for and received his pension, giving her age as 81. Joseph Whitney of Warren, CT., by affidavit attested to his brother Hezekiah's war service and thereby identified himself as a son of Enoch.' v.	Abial Whitney, b. circa 1784; m. Fanny M. Gary.
vi.	David Whitney, b. circa 1793; m. ----- -----.
vii.	Diadama Whitney, b. between about 1795-1800; d. after 1818. She was living with her parents in 1818 as mentioned in her father's pension affidavit. Was she perhaps the "Diadamia Whitney", (1805-1880), who m. James A. Thomas, ancestress of WRG member Beverly Helton?
