John9 Whitney (William Bartholomew8, William Bartholomew7, Samuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of William Bartholomew8 and Charity (Weese) Whitney, was born 1 Mar 1834, Sophiasburg, ON, and died 3 Dec 1921, Highland Park, IL, aged 87 years.[1] He was buried in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago, IL.

He married, 6 Nov 1854, Hannah E. Spafford, daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Dewell) Spafford. She was born 20 Dec 1833, Demorestville, ON, and died 22 Jun 1911, Chicago, IL, aged 77 years.[2] She was buried in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago, IL.

He resided Petersboro, ON. In 1905 he and Hannah immigrated to the United States, settling in Highland Park, IL, and after Hannah's death, John lived with his daughter Margaret Swetman in Chicago, IL.
