David7 Whitney (Silas6, David5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Silas6 and Jane (Pearson) Whitney, was born 21 Aug 1761, Princeton, MA,[1] and died 25 Jul 1806, Clarendon, VT. He is buried in Marsh Cemetery, Clarendon, VT.[2]

He married firstly, 9 Oct 1783, Sarah Wilson, parentage unknown. She was born 28 Mar 1761, and died 29 Jun 1804 in the 44th year of her age. She is buried in Marsh Cemetery, Clarendon, VT.[3]

He married secondly, ----- Mason. He resided Clarendon, VT.

From Rutland County historian Dawn Hance:

"David Whitney's probate does not refer to his his widow by name, but she got $100 for herself and "her youngest child". Also $45 was allowed for the support of the youngest children until they reached the age of 7. Maybe this went to her and she took off to NY. No guardians named. I doubt they stayed in Clarendon. The administrator was David Whitney (of Tinmouth), in 1811. He spent 2 days giving articles to widow so if she was not in Clarendon she was nearby. If David had not previously sold his farm there would have been a division to the heirs, and a dower. By 1811 the estate had not been settled .... and it still wasn't in 1820 when Lydia Whitney complained to the court against David for not giving the money to the heirs. In fact Henry Hodges, who posted surety, withdrew because he would have been on the hook if the estate was not settled. Notice to the heirs in 1811: Richard, Sarahan Parker, Nathan, Solomon, Noah or (their?) guardians to appear at Henry Gould's Tavern in Rutland. David had been to Canada twice 1810 and 1811 to try to get the $900 Oliver owed the estate, but he seems to have been unsuccessful. David's cousin Amos Spring took the inventory. David may have been ill for awhile as several doctors put in claims."
