Richard⁸ Whitney (David⁷, Silas⁶, David⁵, Benjamin⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), son of David⁷ and Sarah (Wilson) Whitney, was born 1785, Clarendon, VT, and died 15 May 1857, Clarendon, VT.

He married firstly, 6 Sep 1810, Clarendon, VT, Jannet McCoy.^[1] She was born about 1785, and died 6 Jul 1842, Franklin, VT. She is buried in East Franklin, VT.

He married secondly, before 1850, Phebe -----. She was born about 1789, VT, and died after 1850.

He resided Clarendon, VT.

i.	David M.9 Whitney, b. ca. 1811, Clarendon, VT; m. ----- -----; d. 26 May 1889, Ashby, MA, aged 78 years, of kidney disease, lumberman.[2] He may have been the David M. Whitney who "of St. Armand, Lower Canada" m. 16 Jan 1840, Hyde Park, VT, Loana Brigham. He certainly m. 18 Apr 1868, New Hampton, NH, Amanda A. Huckins, daughter of David and Melinda (Dow) Huckins, b. 7 Aug 1835, New Hampton, NH, and d. s. p. 3 May 1884, New York, NY.[3]
