Everett W.10 Whitney (Daniel9, Amos8, Amos7, Ephraim6, Nathaniel5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, John2, John1), son of Daniel9 and Lovice R. (Brown) Whitney, was born about 13 May 1835, Upton, MA, and died 13 Jul 1895, Upton, MA, aged 59 years 2 months 0 days, mechanic, of softening of the brains.[1]

He married, 24 Mar 1858, Shirley, MA, Rebecca Jane Balcom, daughter of Thaddeus and Rebecca (Frothingham) Balcom.[2] She was born 21 Mar 1835, Lancaster, MA, and died after 1874. Apparently there was a divorce, because she married secondly, 17 Dec 1874, Boxborough, MA [also recorded in Harvard, MA], Charles H. Sargent, b. ca. 1835, Boxborough, MA, son of Samuel and Hannah (-----) Sargent.[3]

Children of Everett10 and Jane (Balcom) Whitney:

  • 1880, Rebecca not found.

Notes

Since Rebecca Jane is not found after the birth of her son, it would seem likely that she died soon thereafter, possibly even before the 1860 Census. Since Everett was listed as single in 1880, surely it occurred before that. Her death hasn't been found in the Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841-1910, however.
