James Whitney (Jacob), son of Jacob and Ruth (-----) Whitney, was born about 27 Dec 1812, Boston, MA, and died 14 Mar 1890, Lynn, MA, aged 77 years 2 months 18 days, of chronic cystitis, baker.[1]

Marriage intentions were published 26 May 1837, Barnstable, MA, for him "of Lynn" and Lucy A. Sturgis "of Barnstable".[2] Marriage intentions were published 28 May 1837, Lynn, MA, for him and Lucy Ann Sturgis "of Barnstable".[3] Apparently she was the Lucy Sturgis, daughter of Nathaniel and Lucy (Cobb) Sturgis, who was born 12 Jul 1818, Barnstable, MA, although she frequently gave her age on the censuses as if she had been born in 1816-1817.
