William Henry8 Whitney (Oscar Fitzoland7, John6, Abijah5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Oscar Fitzoland7 and Christian Ann (Cary) Whitney, was born 3 Apr 1831, Florida, NY, and died after 1910.
He married, 31 Mar 1853, Denton, NY, Mary Ann Tetther, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Peet) Tetther, by Rev. O. M. Johnson, Presbyterian. She was born 11 Nov 1831, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England, and died after 1910.
Phoenix says the following:
- "... a painter and paper-hanger .... They lived at Florida for about twelve years; and then settled at Barryville, in Highland, N. Y., where they were living in May 1875. He had then served as justice of the peace, and commissioner of excise, since 1 Jan. 1870, having been reelected in March 1873."

ii. Mary Alice Whitney, b. 24 Jul 1858, Florida, NY. iii. Eugenia Ann Whitney, b. 15 Jun 1860, Florida, NY. iv. Edward Herbert Whitney, b. 27 Feb 1864, Florida, NY; d. 26 Oct 1865, Highland, NY, and was buried there.
