John Whitney, ([probably] Wade H., Joseph), probably son of Wade H. and Susan (Norton) Whitney but known to be a grandson of Joseph Whitney, was born circa 1814, TN, and died after 1850.

He married, say 1830, Elinder -----. She was born circa 1810, TN, and died after 1850.

It seems possible that John Whitney died soon after 1850, that Elinder married secondly ----- Fuller, and that both of them died before 1860. That would explain the children having the surname Fuller in the 1860 census. Eden Fuller would then be a step-daughter of Elinder.

"P:252 5 October 1837, Joseph Whitney Senr., for love and affection for grandson John Whitney and grand daughter Elender, his wife, and the sum of $1, granted a negro boy named Charles about 16 years, posession to be taken at Joseph's death and a negro girl Sarah Ann to be taken at Joseph's death and the death of his wife."[1]

Children of John and Elinder (-----) Whitney:

i. (daughter) Whitney, b. say 1833 (1830-1835).
ii. Martha Whitney, b. ca. 1835, MO.
iii. Susan Whitney, b. ca. 1837, MO.
iv. (daughter) Whitney, b. say 1839 (1835-1840).
v. Norman Whitney, b. 1842, MO. Norman is last seen listed as a Private in Company E,

19th Infantry Regiment, AR Civil War Troops. Company E – Organized October 30, 1861, in Sevier County

vi. Wade Hamp Whitney, b. ca. 1844, MO; m. Nannie Fletcher.
vii. Marion Coleman Whitney, b. ca. 1844, MO.
viii. Zachariah T. Whitney, b. ca. 1849, AR.
