Josiah6 Whitney (Josiah5, David4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Josiah5 and Sarah (Lawrence) Whitney, was born 23 Jun 1765, Waltham, MA,[1] and died 24 Dec 1842, Ashby, MA, aged 79 years, of consumption.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 10 Jan 1790, Waltham, MA, for him and Mary Barrett,[3] He married, 18 Feb 1790, Ashby, MA, Mary "Polly" Barrett, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah (Merriam) Barrett.[4] She was born 25 Mar 1767, Ashby, MA, and died 23 Aug 1841, Ashby, MA.[5]

After the births of four of their children they were dismissed to the church in Ashby, 24 Nov 1799. There they ever afterward resided, honored and respected. He resided Watertown and Ashby, MA.
