Jonathan6 Whitney (Caleb5, Jonathan4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Caleb5 and Annes (Church) Whitney,[1] was born 2 Sep 1768, Shutesbury, MA,[2] baptized 3 Nov 1769, Harvard, MA,[3] and died 18 Feb 1847, Sterling, MA.

Marriage intentions were published 24 Aug 1793, Gardner, MA, for him "of Sterling" and Lucy Wheeler.[4] He "of Sterling" married, 7 Nov 1793, Westminster, MA, Lucy Wheeler, "of Gardner",[5] daughter of Josiah and Lucy (Graves) Wheeler. She was born 31 Jun 1771, Gardner, MA, and died 2 Jan 1856, Sterling, MA, aged 84 years 7 months, of paralysis.[6]

He made his will Apr 13, 1835, and it was probated 1 may 1847. He resided Sterling, MA.

Meanness of any description excited his contempt, and honesty and integrity were his constant precept and practice. He was born to command, and was only satisfied when command was devolved upon him.
