Marcellus⁸ Whitney (Amos⁷, (prob.) Charles⁶, John⁵, (poss.) Samuel⁴, John³, Benjamin², John¹), son of Amos⁷ and Mary (Lamson) Whitney, was born 4 Jun 1839, Thorndike, ME, and died 17 Nov 1910, Unity, ME.

He married, 24 May 1860, Lowell, MA, Mary Ann (Sharples) Nichols, daughter of Charles L. and Elizabeth (Smith) Sharples.^[1] She was born 6 Jul 1837, Lowell, MA, and died 5 Jan 1916, Unity, ME. She had married firstly George H. Nichols.

iv.	Jessie Elizabeth Whitney, b. 30 Aug 1873, ME; m. Albert Bacon.
v.	Harry Jacob Whitney, b. 27 Dec 1876, ME; m. 27 May 1899, Lowell, MA, Sadie E. Pillsbury, b. ca. 1877, Unity, ME, dau. of George and Clara (Radcliffe) Pillsbury.[7]
