He married 25 Sep 1853, Holt Co., MO, Melissa Combs[2], daughter of John and Susan (Jones) Combs[3] and step-daughter of Wade's brother Thomas Whitney. She was born 1834, KY, and died after 1860.

He married secondly, 24 Mar 1863, Richardson Co., NE, Nancy Mariah Boyd,[4] daughter of William Asbury and Anna (Mullins) Boyd. She was born 15 Dec 1845, Rushville, IL, and died 2 Jun 1917. She was buried in Maple Cemeterry, Salem, NE.[5]
