Charles Edwin6 Whitney (Josiah5, Eliasaph4, Nathan3, John2, Henry1), son of Josiah5 and Mary (Smith) Whitney, was born 3 Feb 1806, Darien, CT, or Stamford, CT,[1] and died 13 Jan 1892, Darien, CT, aged 85 years 11 months 10 days.[2]
He married, 5 Nov 1833, Darien, CT, Rosanna Mather,[3] daughter of Moses and Sally (Bishop) Mather. She was born 31 Aug 1808, and died 6 May 1905, Darien, CT, aged 96 years 8 months 3 days.[4]
Phoenix says the following:
- "Charles Edwin Whitney, b. in Darien, Conn., 3 Feb. 1806; married, 5 Nov. 1833, Rosanna Mather, who was born 31 Aug. 1808; and was living at Darien in July 1874."
He applied for a passport on 20 Mar 1849, New York, NY. He was born 3 Feb 1806, Darien, CT, aged 43, height 5 feet 8 inches, forehead high, eyes hazel, nose aquiline, mouth small, chin short and round, hair black, complexion sallow, face full, has a scar on his right leg.[5]
His family are buried in Bates Cemetery #1, Darien, CT.
