Jay H. Whitney (David Hills, Joseph S., [prob.] David), son of David Hills and Ruth M. (Truesdell) Whitney, was born Nov 1863, Croton, MI, and died 10 Apr 1940, Endicott, NY.[1]

He married circa 1883, probably Tioga Co., NY, Sarah M. Hatch, daughter of Samuel P. and Mary A. (-----) Hatch. She was born Jan 1861, NY, and died 23 Jul 1949, Endicott, NY.[2]

Based upon early state and federal census records, Jay changed his name when he became of age from Jabish to Jay.

Children of Jay H. and Sarah M. (Hatch) Whitney:

i. Harry David Whitney, b. 13 Oct 1885, NY; d. 13 Aug 1961, NY; m. circa 1905, Union, NY, Enola A. Wood.
Children: Dorlene Whitney, b. 30 Mar 1909, Union, NY.
