Joseph6 Whitney (Joseph5, Thomas4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Joseph5 and Hannah (Chandler) Whitney, was born 28 Oct 1748, Roadstown (now Shutesbury), MA, and died 29 Dec 1813

He married, 15 Dec 1771, Abigail Barnard. She was born 5 Jan 1751 and died 27 Dec 1813.

He was probably born in Shelburne, where he was married and was a farmer. During the Revolutionary war he served in one of the companies from Shelburne, and his name is found on the Revolutionary records in the State House of Boston.
