Nathan⁵ Whitney (Thomas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Thomas⁴ and Hannah (Smith) Whitney,^[1] was born 23 Jul 1726, Watertown, MA,^[2] baptized 3 Mar 1728, Watertown, MA,^[3], and died after 1773.^[4]

He "of Spencer-District" married 20 Feb 1754, Grafton, MA, Abigail Marstass "of Grafton."^[5] She was born say 1733.

iv.	Jonathan Whitney, b. 16 Jul 1761, Hartford, VT; b. 16 Jul 1761, Spencer, MA; m.(1) 3 Mar 1785, Halifax, VT Mary Woodard; m.(2) 19 Aug 1786, Hartford, VT, Lucy Woodard.
v.	David Whitney, b. 2 Oct 1762, Brookfield, MA; b. 2 Oct 1763, Brookfield, MA; d. 17 Sep 1838, Bolton, MA.

• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Jonathan Whitney, 1 male over 16, 2 males 0-15, and 3 females. This was Nathan's son.
• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Nathan Whitney, 1 male over 16 and 2 females. This was Nathan's son.
• 1791, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Jonathan Whitney, 1 male over 16, 2 males 0-15, and 3 females. Yes, there are really two Jonathan Whitney individuals with the same counts enumerated in this town. It is hard to explain this, unless it is an error, and one of them was John, Nathan's son.
