Daniel5 Whitney (Daniel4, Jonathan3, Jonathan2, John1), son of Daniel4 and Thankful (Allen) Whitney, was born 4 Sep 1746,[1] Shrewsbury, MA,[2] and died Jun 1817, aged 68 years.[3]

He "of Shrewsbury" married, 26 Sep 1771, Oxford, MA, Katy Stone "of the County Gore",[4] daughter of Uriah and Mary (Blunt) Stone.[5] She was born 15 Nov 1752, Oxford, MA.[6]

Pierce says the following:[7]

He was in the Revolutionary army, in the company commanded by Capt. ANDREWS, of Shrewsbury.

He may have been the Daniel Whitney enumerated in Stamford, Bennington Co., VT in 1800, a town mid-way between Shrewsbury and Marlboro, MA and Madrid, NY.

vi. John Stone Whitney, b. 20 Jun 1783,[22] Marlborough, MA.[23]
vii. William Whitney, b. 27 Aug 1785[24] or 22 Aug 1785,[25] Marlborough, MA.[26]
