Benjamin Duick8 Whitney (Asa7, Elisha6, Elijah5, Daniel4, John3, John2, John1), son of Asa7 and Mary (Hammond) Whitney; born 6 Nov 1807; married firstly, in Northborough, Massachusetts, 20 Sep 1830, Elizabeth Williams; born May 25, 1805; died 24 Apr 1849; married secondly, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, 5 Feb 1863, Charlotte E. Genella; born 21 Nov 1842; died 6 Sep 1865.
He graduated at Harvard college in the class of 1828, with R. C. Winthrop and Dr. Bowditch, of Boston. He was for many years a Boston merchant, and was later in New Orleans, Vicksburg and Washington. His children lived in Cambridge, and he spent the last years of his life in their home filled with tender associations. He retained a strong interest in his alma mater and in his classmates to the end of his life. He died in Cambridge, Massachusetts, 24 Feb 1892; resided Vicksburg, Mississippi.

He was born 8 Aug 1815; died Sept. 4, 1874. - Ch.: Jeffries, born 3 Feb 1864; married 1 Jun 1892, Helen Mackey; born 30 Jul 1867; is with the Bell Telephone County, in Boston, Mass, ; ch., Helen Mackey, born 17 Mar 1893.
ii. Mary Whitney, born 9 Sep 1834; unmarried; resided 10 Ash St., Cambridge, Massachusetts. iii. Elizabeth Whitney, born 18 Aug 1836; resided Camb. iv. Alice Orne Whitney, born 10 Jan 1839; resided Camb. v. Stephen Wms. Whitney, born 23 Mar 1841; resided 68 Washington place, New York City. vi. Emily Whitney, born 8 Sep 1843; resided Cambridge. vii. Benjamin Whitney, born 10 Sep 1846; died 26 Nov 1856. viii. Charles Henry Whitney, born 16 Apr 1849; died 6 Dec 1867.
