He was twice elected commissioner for the county and twice county judge in 1869 and 1870. He was justice of the peace for nearly a score of years. He was active in the temperance reform and manifested a good degree of interest in the social, intellectual and religious advantages of the community, and was respected by all who knew him. He was a kind husband and loving father. He died 16 Sep 1873; resided East Franklin, Vermont.

Hon. John K.9 Whitney (Oliver8, Oliver7, Silas6, David5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Oliver8 and Rebecca (Leonard) Whitney, was born 4 Jan 1813, Saint Armand, QC, and died 16 Sep 1873, East Franklin, VT.

He married, Saint Armand, QC, Philura Hubbard. She was born 19 Jun 1804, and died 3 Oct 1880.
