Welcome!
Fiona:
Welcome to the Whitney Research Group website, and thank you for adding in your lineage and for creating the two family group pages. I've linked in the two pages and changed the formatting a bit, but the pages were very well done. Please continue to add more pages if you feel up to it. Just keep in mind not to add pages for recent families due to privacy concerns.
I see you've been researching for a while, and may think that you have a Whitney line that is unconnected. I am very excited about this. Chicheley is a village northeast of Milton Keynes. On their website, they mention the "Whitney Estate", but no additional information is provided.
We have data that a John Whitney, born perhaps about 1490, and died 1550, resided in the nearby village of Stoke-Goldington. Although we have no proof, it may be that your John descends from this family. In any case, it looks as though Whitney families were in that area for quite some time.
Do you have any living male Whitney descendants in your family? If so, I would highly encourage you to have him participate in the Whitney DNA Study Project. This would allow us to see if your Whitney line matched any other Whitneys, which could assist not only you, but potentially hundreds of other Whitneys.

Chicheley Records
Fiona:
I see that the following records are available from the Family History Library:
- Bishop's transcripts for Chicheley, 1575-1835
- Marriages at Chicheley, 1539-1812
- Parish registers for Chicheley, 1539-1842
In order to push your lineage back, I would suggest that this is your best bet.
