John Whitney, parentage unknown, born say 1490, died between 5 Aug and 12 Sep 1550.

In his will, dated Aug. 5, 1550, and proved at Aylesbury, Sept. 12 of the same year, he calls himself, "late of Stoke-Goldington in Buckinghamshire," and desires to be buried soo"--[Parish Register of Stoke-Goldington begin in 1640.]

He married Ellen -----. She was carefully provided for in her husband's will.

Children of John and Ellen (-----) Whitney (order uncertain):

i. William Whitney, eldest son; supervisor of his father's will. (Quere? Named in the will of Joan Goodchild.)
Ch: Alice, Mary, and Isabel, all named in their grandfather's will.
ii. Thomas Whitney, second son; named in his father's will.
Ch:
William Whitney, named in his grandfather's will. (Quere? of Islip, in Oxfordshire.), m. ----- ----- (Quere? bur. at Islip, May 27, 1665.)
Ch: Anne Whitney, baptised at Islip, April 22, 1597.
Alice, named in her grandfather's will.
iii. John Whitney, third son;
iv. Simon Whitney, His father placed him under the guardian ship of his brother William.
v. Elizabeth Whitney, named in her father's will as the wife of John Browne. Their children, then, were Thomas and Robert.
