Artemas Henry8 Whitney (George Washington7, John Smith6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of George Washington7 and Prudence (Stone) Whitney, was born 29 Jul 1833, Dana, MA, and died 13 Feb 1914, Athol, MA.

He married 13 Sep 1858, Belchertown MA, Jerusha Sellon Percival, both of Amherst, daughter of Ansel and Sylvia Woodbury (Sellon) Percival.[1] She was born 23 Sep 1831, Amherst, MA, and died 6 Dec 1904, Athol, MA, aged 73 years 2 months 13 days, of asthma and consumption.[2]

Artemas served with Co. K, 42nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry from 25 Oct to 1 Nov 1862 when he was discharged as disabled with a ventral hernia.

He was a carpenter and lived in Amherst, Greenwich, Dana and Athol. He died of Chronic Valvular Heart Disease.
