Family:Whitney, Whitford (1796-1874)

Whitford⁶ Whitney (Asa⁵, Matthias⁴, Cornelius³, Joshua², John¹), son of Asa⁵ and Alithea (-----) Whitney, was born 6 May 1796, Killingly, CT, and died 18 Dec 1874, aged 79 years, Woodstock, CT.^[1]

He married firstly, 10 Nov 1817, Patience Slafter, daughter of Silas and Beulah (Adams) Slafter. She was born 3 Nov 1791, Foster, RI, and died 18 Oct 1820.

He married secondly, 16 Nov 1823, Foster, RI, Mehitabel Hopkins, daughter of Peleg and Elizabeth (Place) Hopkins. She was born about 1801, Foster, RI, and died after 1860, and apparently before 1870.

iv.	Malora Whitney, b. ca. 1829, Killingly, CT. She is supposedly the Catherine Whitney who m. 13 Apr 1851, Thompson, CT, George Morse.[3]
v.	Delilah Whitney, b. ca. 1831, Killingly, CT; "of Pomfret" m. 15 Par 1854, Norwich, CT, Austin W. Park, "of Norwich".[4]
vi.	Harriet J. Whitney, b. ca. 1833, Killingly, CT; d. aft. 1900; unmarried.
vii.	Mary Ann Whitney, b. ca. 1835, Killingly, CT; m. William Clark Sunderland.
viii.	Alfred S. Whitney, b. 10 Jun 1836, Killingly, CT; m. Louisa Johnson.
ix.	George Henry Whitney, b. ca. 1838, Plainfield, CT; m. Ann Sophia Buck.
x.	Clarissa Augusta Whitney, b. ca. 1843, Pomfret, CT; m. ca. 1862, Frederick William Lovering.
