Family:Whitney, Sarah (1723-1803)

Sarah⁵ Whitney (Samuel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), daughter of Samuel⁴ and Anne (Laboree) Whitney, was born 19 or 29 Aug 1723, Stratford, CT,^[1], baptized 1 Sep 1723, Stratford, CT, and died 2 Nov 1795 in her 73rd year, or 14 Dec 1803, Newtown, CT, aged 74 years.^[2]

She married, 6 Nov 1746, Stratford, CT, Daniel Foote,^[3] son of Jehiel and Susannah (-----) Foote. He was born 25 Jul 1717, Stratford, CT, and died 28 Jun 1790, Newtown, CT, in his 72nd year.

Pierce says the following:^[4]

SARAH [WHITNEY], b. Aug. 29, 1723; m. Nov. 6, 1746, Daniel FOOTE, b. there July 25, 1717; res. Stratford and Newtown, Conn. He d. June 28, 1790, ae. 72. She d. Dec. 14, 1803, ae. 74. The family record says she d. Nov. 2, 1794, ae. 73.

Phoenix says the following:^[5]

Sarah Whitney, b. in Stratford, Conn., 29 Aug. 1723; bap. in Stratford Congregational Church, 1 Sept. 1723; married, 6 Nov. 1746, at Stratford, Daniel Foote, who was born in Stratford, 25 July 1717, son of Jehiel and Susanna Foote, g. son of Daniel Foote, g. g. son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Smith) Foote, and g. g. g. son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Deming) Foote and of Lieut. Samuel and Elizabeth Smith. They lived in Stratford till after they had three children born; then removed to Newtown, Conn., where they spent the rest of their lives. He died 28 June 1790, in his 72d year; she survived him, dying 14 Dec. 1803, aged 74, accord to Foote Genealogy, p. 75 -- which is six years too little, if the date of death is right. The family record says that she died 2 Nov. 1795, in the 73d year of her age.

ii.	Anna Foote, b. 14 Jun 1749, Stratford, CT; d. 17 Nov 1827, Newtown, CT, in her 78th year; m. say 1776, Stephen Shepherd, son of John and Mary (Pierson) Shepherd.
iii.	Charity Foote, b. 21 Jun 1752, Stratford, CT; d. 13 Nov 1826, Newtown, CT, in her 75th year; m.(1) Elias Bristol, son of Joseph and Jemima (Foote) Bristol; first husband; m.(2) Samuel Sanford, son of Samuel and Hannah (Gillett) Sanford, as his second wife.
iv.	Susanna Foote, b. say 1755, Newtown, CT; m.(1) Amos Griffin, son of John and Beulah (Hubbell) Griffin; m.(2) Enoch Lacey "of New York".
v.	Peter Foote, b. 10 Aug 1759, Newtown, CT; d. 21 Apr 1846, Stamford, NY, in his 87th year; m. circa 1788, Newtown, CT, Naomi Gillett, daughter of Samuel and Eunice (Clark) Gillett.
vi.	Daniel Foote, b. 1762, Newtown, CT; d. 27 Jul 1840, Stamford, NY, aged 78 years; m. Betty Northrop, daughter of John and Lois (Northrop) Northrop.
vii.	Jerusha Foote, b. say 1765, Newtown, CT; m. David Curtis Wainwright.
viii.	Lemuel Foote, b. say 1768, Newtown, CT; d. 7 Mar 1812, Stamford, NY; m. Charity Beers.
