Family:Whitney, Thomas Aaron (1805-a1874)

Thomas Aaron⁷ Whitney (Silas⁶, Aaron⁵, Samuel⁴, Richard³, John², Henry¹), son of Silas⁶ and Nancy (Russell) Whitney, was born 20 Feb 1805, near Dykeman's, Southeast, NY, and died after 1874, but before 1880.

He married firstly, 28 Oct 1838, Carmel, NY, Naomi Jane Dykeman, daughter of Jesse and Phebe (Russell) Dykeman. She was born 19 Mar 1820, Patterson, NY, died 27 Mar 1870, Peekskill, NY, aged 50 years of consumption,^[1] and is buried in Cortlandt Cemetery, about two miles north of Peekskill.

He married secondly, 5 Oct 1870, New York, NY, Susan Elizabeth (Newman) Dykeman, of Hoboken, NJ, daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth (Pardee)(Raymond) Newman. She was born 14 Sep 1827, Stanwich, in Greenwich, CT, and died 17 May 1901, Cottage Grove, GA. She had married firstly Albert Adolphus Dykeman.

Phoenix says the following:

He settled at Peekskill, N. Y., in 1826; has been teacher, trader, underwriter, and, for more than twenty years, a magistrate. . . . . They lived on the corner of James and Orchard Streets, Peekskill, in 1874.

Her obituary:

"Mrs. Susan E. Dykman-Whitney, a former resident of this village, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Beach, at Cottage Grove, Ga., on Saturday of last week, aged 75 years. Deceased was twice married, her first husband being Albert Dykman, of this . . ."

Cortlandt, NY, son of Isaac and ----- (Post) Reynolds. He m.(2) her sister, Jane Adelaide Whitney.
iii.	Adelaide Augusta Whitney, b. 22 Apr 1844, Peekskill, NY; d. 13 Sep 1845, Peekskill, NY; bur. Cortlandt Cemetery.
iv.	Jane Adelaide Whitney, b. 21 Jan 1846, Peekskill, NY; m. 23 Nov 1870, Peekskill, NY, by Rev. Charles P. Page, Warren Reynolds, who m.(1) her sister Josephine. They lived at White Plains, NY, Nov 1873, without children.
v.	Augusta Justina Whitney, b. 10 May 1849, Peekskill, NY; res. Peekskill, with her father, unmarried, Nov 1873; not with step-mother in 1880; m. Charles Edward Swift.
vi.	Maria Louisa Whitney, b. 13 Aug 1854, 83 Eighth Ave., New York, NY; res. Peekskill, with her father, unmarried, Nov 1874; m. 1875, Watson Francis Sanford.
