Russel7 Whitney (James6, Benjamin5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of James6 and Mary (Frisbie) Whitney, was born 30 Aug 1810, Romulus, NY, and died after 1880, but before 1900.
He married, 16 Nov 1831, Logan (now Adrian), MI, Angeline Rogers, daughter of Cary and Sally (Bentley) Rogers. She was born 27 Jan 1817, DeRuyter, NY, and died after 1900.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a farmer . . . . They lived, for about five years, at Adrian; a short time, at Nottawa, Mich.; and then settled at Rome, Mich., where they dwelt in June 1877."

i. Sarah Ann8 Whitney, b. 24 Feb 1834, Adrian, MI; m. 16 Oct 1851, Rome, MI, Cornelius David Silvernail, son of John and Rhoda (Runnels) Silvernail, b. 1 Jul 1827, Lockport, NY; a farmer and stock-dealer. They dwelt at Rome from 16 Feb 1852 till 13 Mar 1861; and then moved to Edford, IL. He died at Virginia City, MT, 23 Sep 1864, and was buried there. She moved to Englewood, IL, 1 Sep 1874, and was living there in May 1875. ii. Helen Mar Whitney, b. 23 Jan 1835, Adrian, MI; m. Rome, MI, 7 Jan 1854, John McConnell, son of Amzi and Catharine (Beers) McConnell, b. 4 May 1828, Ridgeway, NY; a farmer. They settled at Rome, and were living there in Mar 1875. iii. Andrew Jackson Whitney, b. 7 Mar 1836, Nottawa, MI; m. 8 Sep 1859, Adrian, MI, Mary Jane Monaghan, daughter of John and Lucy (Kemp) Monaghan, b. 2 Jun 1833, Suffolk County, England; a police constable. They dwelt at Brooklyn, MI, till 10 Apr 1862; then moved to Geneseo, IL, and were living there in Mar 1875. He enlisted at Geneseo, 29 Sep 1864, in Company B, 9th Regiment, Illinois Cavalry, and served till after the close of the war, having been, for the last nine months, commissary-sergeant of his company. He took part in the two days fight with Hood, following him to Eastport, TN. iv. Emeline Whitney, b. 18 Aug 1837, Rome, MI; m. Chester Bradley; and was living at Colfax, IA, in Sep 1875, without children. v. Eleanor Phebe Whitney, b. 19 Mar 1839, Rome, MI; m. 30 Oct 1859, Gorham, OH, David Mortimer Farwell, son of Hiram and Margaret (Skinner) Farwell, of Morenci, MI, b. 1 May 1836, Gorham, OH; a carpenter. They settled at Medina, MI; and moved, about 1861, to Gorham. She removed, in 1864, to Adrian, MI, where she was living in Mar 1875. He enlisted, 24 Jul 1862, at Morenci, in the Eighth Michigan Battery; died at Vicksburgh, MS, 29 Aug 1863, and was buried there. vi. Samson Whitney, b. 20 Jul 1840, Rome, MI; a farmer; m. Jane Ann Wells. They were living on his father's farm, at Rome, in Jun 1875, without children. He was churlish enough to return our letters of inquiry unanswered, and refused to give any information to his kinsfolk who wished to make this record complete. vii. Martin Van Buren Borello Whitney, b. 20 Jul 1842, Rome, MI; enlisted at Adrian, MI, in the Spring of 1862, in Company B, 9th Regiment, Michigan Cavalry; d. 3 Oct 1864, Rome, MI, of disease contracted in the army, and was buried there, in Wolf Creek Cemetery. viii. Rome Whitney, b. 18 Apr 1844, Rome, MI; enlisted at Adrian, MI, in the Autumn of 1862, in Company H, 11th Regiment, Michigan Cavalry; died of typhoid fever, 17 Jul 1864, in the general hospital at Lexington, KY, and was buried there. ix. Charles Whitney, b. 22 Nov 1845, Rome, MI; m. 24 Dec 1873, Cambridge, MI, Ida Miranda Eliza Payne, daughter of Daniel Wing and Eliza (Peck) Payne, b. 14 Jul 1855, Rome, MI; a farmer. They were living at Rome, with her mother, in Mar 1875. x. Dallas Whitney, b. 10 May 1847, Rome, MI; m. Emma Delano, and was living at Englewood, IL, in May 1875. xi. Augusta Whitney, b. 1 May 1848, Rome, MI; and was living there, with her parents, in Mar 1875, unmarried. xii. Jeremiah Whitney, b. 26 Mar 1852, Rome, MI; d. 2 Mar 1861, Rome, MI, and was buried there. xiii. Josephine Whitney, b. 2 Sep 1854, Rome, MI; m. 29 Sep 1872, Springville, MI, Joseph Alfred Harris, son of William and Eliza (Farmer) Harris, b. 14 Jul 1849, Rome, MI; a butcher. They settled at Rome, and were living there in Mar 1875.
