George Washington⁷ Whitney (Joseph⁶, Caleb⁵, Jonathan⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of Joseph⁶ and Esther (Crittenden) Whitney, was born c. 1803, Utica, NY,^[1] and died 28 February 1882, Phillipston, MA.^[2]

Marriage intentions were published 26 Aug 1838, Hubbardston, MA, for him and Abigail Sawyer "of Templeton". He "of Hubbardston" married, 19 Sep 1838, Templeton, MA, Abigail Sawyer,^[3] daughter of Solomon and Abigail (Wheeler) Sawyer. She was born about 1797, MA, and died after 1850.

He married, 22 Oct 1859, Gardner, MA, Maria Arvilla Tenney, daughter of John and Arvilla (-----) Tenney. She was born about 1840-1841, Temple, NH,^[4] and died after 1899.^[5]
