John⁶ Whitney (Nathan⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazer³, Thomas², John¹), son of Nathan⁵ and Abigail (Marstass) Whitney,^[1] was born 6 Sep 1754, Spencer, MA,^[2] and died after 1820.^[3]

He married 2 Feb 1775, Brookfield, MA, Joanna Hamilton,^[4] daughter of John and Joanna (Wolcott) Hamilton.^[5] She was baptized 1 Mar 1757, Brookfield, MA,^[6] and died after 1797.^[7]

She was a Mayflower descendant in the following line:
