Thomas B. Whitney, parentage unknown, adopted son of Abel7 and Lydia (Smith) Whitney (Reuben6, Abel5, Nathan4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), was born about 1837, MA or ME, was baptized -- --- 1839, Gloucester, MA,[1] and died after 1865, but before 1868, probably Gardiner, ME.
He married, 18 Feb 1860, Gardiner, ME, Emily W. Crockett,[2] daughter of John and Celestina (Wilson) Whitney. She was born about 1841, Carthage, ME, and died after 1880. She married secondly, 15 Sep 1868, Gardiner, ME, John Smith.[3] He was born about 1829, and died after 1880.
i. Franklin Thomas Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1860, Gardiner, ME;[4] m. Adaline Maria Pushard. ii. Bertha Gertrude Whitney, b. 2 Nov 1862, Gardiner, ME;[5] living 1880. iii. Nellie Emily Whitney, b. 3 Sep 1864, Gardiner, ME;[6] living 1880.

Attention is called to the baptism of Thomas, son of Abel and Lydia Whitney, in 1839, Gloucester, MA, which may well apply to these people.
