Charles7 Whitney (Timothy Holt6, Richard5, Israel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of Timothy Holt6 and Abigail (Blanchard) Whitney, was born 18 Sep 1811, Brookline, VT, and died 6 Jul 1876, Salina, KS.
He married, 13 Nov 1857, Rockingham, VT, Fannie Elizabeth (Davis) Stiles, daughter of Amos and Elizabeth (Chaffee) Davis. She was born 16 Jan 1825, Athens, VT, and died 25 Jun 1918, Tacoma, WA. She had married firstly, about 1842, Gideon Stiles, who was born 21 Aug 1820, Andover, VT, and died about Mar 1846, Athens, VT.

i. Gideon D. Stiles, b. ca. 1843, VT; served as a Private in the 1st and 2nd Independent Batteries, Vermont Light Artillery, Army of the Mississippi in the Civil War; d. 4 Aug 1864, Port Hudson, LA, of chronic diarrhea. His mother applied for a pension based on his service. ii. James C. Stiles, b. ca. 1845, VT; d. after 1880, then unmarried. ii. Eliza Stiles, b. ca. 1846, VT; m. Herbert H.8 Whitney, q.v.
