Charles Carroll8 Whitney (Joel7, Joel6, Jonathan5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Joel7 and Esther (Belding) Whitney, was born 2 Oct 1832, Seneca, NY.
He married firstly, 25 Nov 1857, Marion Clarke. She was born 17 Mar 1839, and died 11 Jan 1873.
He married secondly, 23 Sep 1878, Julia L. Brown. She was born 26 Nov 1848.
He was born in Seneca Castle, NY. Graduated at Williams College in 1853. Subsequently engaged in the telegraph business, and was manager of the Western Union office at Indianapolis during the war.
