Notes

Four possible parentages are suggested, all living in Washington County at the appropriate time:

  1. John Whitney (1759-a1790) and an unknown wife, possibly Sarah or Salley;
  2. Benjamin Whitney (1764-1832) and wife Philena Boyce;
  3. Isaac Whitney (c1766-1841) and wife Phebe Gould;
  4. Joshua Whitney (1769-1810) and wife Phebe Parker.

The last of these is known to have a son John, and lived in Cayuga County, so seems the most likely.
