Isaac5 Whitney (Stephen4, Josiah3, John2, Henry1), son of Stephen4 and Sarah (Wheeler) Whitney, was born 17 Nov 1761, Derby, CT, baptized 28 Mar 1762, Derby, CT, and died between 23 Jun and -- Oct 1794, Derby, CT.

He married, Betsey Waterman/Whitmore, parentage unknown. She was born unknown, and died after 1803. She married secondly, 17 Jul 1803, Bridgeport, CT, Justus Butler of New Haven.

Phoenix says the following:

Isaac Whitney, b. at Derby, Conn., 17 Nov. 1761; bap. at Derby, 28 March 1762; settled in Derby, and there died between 23 June 1794 and Oct. 1794. William Keeney was administrator, 5 Jan. 1796, "of the estate or his brother, Isaac Whitney," which may indicate that Whitney's step-mother was Keeney's mother. He married, according to one tradition, Betsey Waterman, and according to another, Betsey Whitmore. She was married (2d), 17 July 1803, at Bridgeport, Conn., by Rev. Philo Shelton, Episcopal, to Justus Butler, or New Haven, proprietor of the Butler House, at one time the most popular hotel in New Haven.

Children of Isaac5 and Betsey (Waterman/Whitmore) Whitney:

i. James Whitney, b. unknown, d. between 21 Jun 1794 and 5 Jan 1796.
ii. Sarah Wheeler Whitney, b. 1789; resided in New Haven, CT, and New York, NY; then went to live with her half-sister, "up the North River," since which her Connecticut cousins have had no knowledge of her.
