Stephen5 Whitney (Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Isaac4 and Sarah (Crosby) Whitney, was born 19 Mar 1755, Saco, ME,[1] and died 1 Feb 1848, probably Gorham, ME.[2]

Marriage intentions were published 28 Oct 1780, Gorham, ME, for him and Martha Irish. He married, 28 Oct 1780, Martha Irish. She was born circa 1760, probably Gorham, ME, and died 10 Nov 1836, probably Gorham, ME. She was also known as Patty Irish.

Pierce says the following:[3] "He was in the Revolutionary army, serving in the Rhode Island line, and was granted a pension, April 18, 1818.

Children of Stephen5 and Martha (Irish) Whitney:

i. Mary Whitney6, b. 14 Sep 1781, Gorham, ME; m. (int. 12 Aug 1803, Gorham, ME) Freeman Blake.
ii. Sarah Whitney, b. 4 Nov 1783, Gorham, ME; m. (int. 5 Jun 1802, Gorham, ME) Jonathan Elwell.
iii. Ebenezer Whitney, b. circa 1785, Gorham, ME; d. 1801, West Indies.
iv. Patty Whitney, b. circa 1786, Standish, ME; d. 16 Dec 1885; "of Gorham" m. (int. 28 Oct 1809, Standish, ME) 29 Nov 1809, Standish, ME, John Wescott "of Standish". A Patty Whitney married a Warren Heald of Winslow [in the Grafton VR's the word Winston? is put after Winslow in parentheses] district of Maine, Oct. 25 1818. - A Church Record in the Grafton, Worcester, MA Vital Records. This Patty could easily be of the right age to be the one in this marriage. She was also known as Martha A. Whitney.
v. Miriam Whitney, b. say 1794, Gorham, ME; m. 3 Apr 1814, New Gloucester, ME, Robert Nevens.
vi. Stephen Whitney, b. 5 May 1799, Gorham, ME; m. circa 1820 Abigail Mayberry.
vii. Patience Whitney, b. 4 Mar 1800, Gorham, ME; m. Robert Nevens.
viii. William Whitney, b. 4 Mar 1800, Gorham, ME.
ix. Ebenezer Whitney, b. 22 Mar 1803, Gorham, ME.
